I think the culprit here is poor audio recording. The sound is uneven all over, especially when she's louder. I doubt Caballe was flat, like it may seem in a couple of parts here.

This is GREAT...cruddy film and crappy audio notwithstanding. Full marks.
Fight amongst yourselves if you disagree. Life is too short--you should enjoy instead of carp and whine. Because really, no one cares what the naysayers think. It doesn't make you famous or give you a good voice to criticize others, hiding behind a keyboard.

This is my favourite aria, i've listened to many recordings by many singers and this is without doubt the best, Stunning and moving. the final "L'Aspetto" is perfect, Mme. you are a Goddess.

Her performance is magnificent. But anyone criticizing her voice from this one recording should listen to some of the other samples of her singing on here. Any faults that you might think are from her performance are actually due to the quality of the recording itself. Footage of music and even speaking from the black and white era doesn't always age well, and it's especially harsh on female voices because of the higher pitch. Most old films you are "cleaned up" but clips like these often aren't

Probably only very few people have ears or are brainwashed by whomever to consider Caballe as a really great singer. She will be forgotten in less than ten years.

Your harsh remark on one of the greatest divas of the modern era does not show your knowledge, but your bigotry and ignorance. Judge her by her career as a whole. Listen carefully to the recordings of her work; there are plenty and easily available, if you have the 'ear'.
