The man had one of the greatest tones - he always had so much stuff in it!... but as far as the greatest along w/Sanborn, Brecker, Grover, Desmond, Lester, Dex...all extreme/distinctive no matter which way the pendulum swings. But, boy did Getz know how to let you hear his tone. What an ARTIST! This is so cool and suave. I agree, it could be released today & folks might say who is this? I find myself relaxin' and learnin' Leaves a lot to ones imagination & he gets it goin' at the same time!

I agree. So many good players over the years, and all players were/are influenced by the earlier ones. It is frustrating to read someone state that Brecker is the best, or Coltrane, or Sanborn, or Redman, or whoever. They are all good and should be respected as such. I wish people could agree like yourself that its how the pendulum swings......depends on the style a guy (or girl I suppose too) likes to play.
