It's a fabulous document !!! Waouww. We can see it in his complete form here. A thing that I still don't know is why Gerry, who influenced a lot ! Tom's music in elaborating his new style called Bossa Nova, never really collaborated with brazilian musicians. Life and music are really strange sometimes.

Yup. All Brazilians refer to him as Tom Jobim. It sounds different than in English. More like "Tong Joo-beeng" (very roughly). It is short for António and also means "tone".

Tom Jobim was famous for being a gentle, intelligent educated and funny character, just as you can see here. About the music, the "samba de uma nota só" (one note samba) is a metalinguistic song. It's trully based on one note, but at some point the lyrics talk about more notes and then the melody changes. Also, the difficult thing about this song is the rhythm, very syncopated (Mulligan suffers to get it) and the harmony, which changes a lot while the melody stands still.

You couldn´t have said it better. That´s exactly how he was: sweet, calm, funny but also sad. It´s said that Gerry Mulligan and Sinatra loved him and wanted him to stay in the US but he always have preferred his home town, in Rio, "hidden in the mountains" as Sinatra complained at the time.
