Sonia's dancing is nice but it could be better if she were dancing barefoot or at the very least in slippers here. High heels limit your range of motion tremendously. I like to see well-defined movement in belly dance and I'm not seeing it so well here. Compare with Shabnam, Hale Sultan 2 or Sadie's drum solo. They all perform barefooted and it is wonderful!

Then you need to be entertained with Bollywood type of performances. I love Sonia. She's very crafty in her work. Watching a solo on video doesn't justify the performance as live in person.

you dont need to move a lot.

I thought this was really good. The fact that she is beautiful doesn't detract from the performance of course. The drummer is great as well.

I totally agree!!!! It's unfortunate that dancers that perform the modern Egyptian way, have no regard for the traditional Egyptian style. It's especially offensive when they trash dancers like Soheir Zaki and Mona el Sayeed. No respect whatsoever. (I know not all contemporary dancers dislike the early Egyptian dancers.)

Sonia does have good movements when it comes to drum solos, but her facial expressions don't correspond to her body movements. I wish she would just lose control once in a while :-)
